Seoul Fashion Exhibition: Fashion KODE 2013 Fashion Fair OCT. 17 TO OCT. 19

Seoul Fashion Exhibition: Fashion KODE 2013 Fashion Fair OCT. 17 TO OCT. 19

Fashion. Art. Runway.  Three words I would use to describe KODE 2013 fashion fair KODE 2013 celebrated its first grand opening from Oct 17 to Oct. 19 at COEX (Mall & Exhibition Center) in Gangnam, Seoul.

We checked out the scene on Saturday, October 19th.  We were invited by Fashion in Korea and KODE as VIP press for the exhibition and fashion shows.  The rows were filled with top fashion designers (CresE.Dim, Lie, Desigual) and aisles were designed to display a sort of free walk-style runway.  We were able to enjoy fashion shows both on the runway and walkway throughout the exhibit.

With that being said, we caught the 12:30pm show of the high Korean fashion Unisexwear line DUNIQUCO on the runway.  You might get an angry bird feel, well, there was definitely bird inspiration.  We bumped into the designer at Seoul Fashion Week, and he mentioned baby chicks were the inspiration behind this line.  Chicks are super cute aren’t they?  We think so!

Another collection at the fashion exhibition was Lie Sangbong’s sons line LIE which was one that popped out at us at KODE.  Below you will see some recommended closet must-haves chosen from his collection.  The line was fresh, light, and high-quality.  Yellow shorts perfect for summer and fall, trench style blouse perfect for the workplace, and the pleated skirt with cutout patterned mesh, oh so lovely!  For more about Lie Sangbong visit: http://www.liesangbong.com/gb/index.php.

Another fun treat at the event were the custom-designed screen print t-shirts given away to the public by pop artists, to name a few: Kun, Yun Seo-hui, Sung Nakjin and illustrator Kwang.   You Are The Designer was also a big hit at the expo.  People were just waiting for computers to open so they could design and print their own shoes to enter the contest.  Three winners would be selected for the best shoe design and those winners designs would get manufactured and sent to the original designer.  How cool is that?  The application is currently only in Korean, but it will soon be available in English.

Finally, KODE was a fashion and Art experience to remember.  Visitors were drawn in by unique fashion play, and it’s always cool to see the stylish Korean audience come out and mingle in this kind of fashion scene.  Would you join us next time?!
