City Life: Charu Tyagi | Let’s Get Real in Style

City Life: Charu Tyagi | Let’s Get Real in Style

Anyone can delve into fashion if they have a love and passion for it! I had the chance to interview Charu Tyagi, a Nutritionist who’s a fashion enthusiast from India. Her blog, That Good Side of Life  aims to discuss and share all the good things in life, from anything like beauty and fashion, to music and food. As a lifestyle blogger, she hopes to connect with people who have the same interests while reflecting her real lifestyle and incorporating cultural fashion.

She’s quite active and a frequent user of Instagram and as such, we’ve included her photos to showcase her sense of style and what’s trending in India! So without further ado, let’s get right into it!

  1. How do you define your sense of style?

I think my style is chic, elegant, and real. By real, I mean my style is something girls can wear on a daily basis and it also resembles my true lifestyle, but I definitely like to give it a personal spin! I like to experiment with trends, but at the end of the day I wear what suits me and the things I’m most comfortable with. I keep altering between street fashion and Indian ethnic styles, always trying to keep a balance.

  1. Who are your biggest fashion influences?

There are so many! I think my own family is a major influence, where an emphasis on good dressing has always been present but if we’re talking of fashion icons, it has to be Neha Dhupia in India and internationally, I adore Olivia Palermo and Victoria Beckham – They are ladies with class!

  1. What trends have you noticed are popular in India?

I think Indian fashion is now a mixed bag with lot of international and Indian fashion trends combined. I’ve noticed a lot of emphasis on sustainable fashion in India with relaxed, easy breezy, silhouettes which I personally love, and there’s currently a lot of ruffles and exaggerated sleeves which are a massive hit with the girls.

  1. What’s one thing people don’t know about you?

I hate going to a salon, I have to really drag myself to a salon and on most occasions, I prefer at-home service, doing things myself.

  1. What’s the one wardrobe/fashion essential you can’t live without?

How can you ask one? Haha. I can’t do without a handbag because all my essentials are inside of it, and it’s one accessory which can perk up the simplest outfit or look! I can manage without anything else but a handbag!

  1. What has impacted you most in blogging and how?

Success of other bloggers, I am amazed to see how well bloggers are doing and it really inspires me to work hard and do better. When I started out, I wasn’t that serious but now that I’ve seen how people have created this amazing platform with their creativity, I definitely want to push myself!

  1. What’s your go-to outfit on days with a full schedule to work, lunch dates, and beauty care appointments?

Jeans or leggings, with a loose kurta (a loose shirt that ends just above or below the knees & is collarless).

  1. You seem to like capturing photos in the streets or even with a dessert, sandy backdrop, why? What makes you choose such locations?

I like to shoot at locations that have depth and streets do absolute justice to that. I’m also really fond of getting photos in front of colourful or rustic doors, and even shop shutters – it really elevates and adds a different texture to photos.

  1. What advice do you have for fashion bloggers in India striving for success?

Well, I’m not the ultimate authority to answer that since I’m striving for success myself, but one thing is very important, and that is patience! Any form of blogging needs patience and consistency, and I’d advise people to please create unique and good content because that is what blogging is. Always create a story behind your pictures and project your thoughts, because there is no better canvas than your blog where you can write what’s on your mind.

  1. What global trends have you incorporated into your own style?

Well, I think many! Like stripes, velvets, anti-fits, pop-art and slogan tees, athleisure, cold-shoulder, off-the-shoulder, ruffles, combining patterns…the list is endless!
